Sunday Drive

This probably deserves some sort of explanation..... I don't have one. Amelia just decided to unbuckle herself and stick her head out the window. :)

The Leverage

Leverage: the mechanical advantage gained by being in a position to use a lever.

Since she was two, Amelia has known how to properly apply leverage. She's not that big, but she can knock you down if you're not ready for it. If you tell her to use "the leverage", she knows exactly what to do.

This can only end in one of two ways:

- She'll go on to become a world famous engineer.
or
-She'll blackmail me into giving her everything she wants when she's a teenager.

Oddly enough, in either case, I'll be proud.

Right underneath the chin. Then she arches her back.

Once she gets you going backwards, it's all over but the cryin'.

"The Leverage" wins again.

Addicted

It all started at The Fresh Market. Our grocery store has free samples all over the store and the girls love it. There's always fruit, chips, o.j and cookies from the bakery. There's also a coffee station. Will and I normally get a little cup. Amelia asked to try mine one time, so I gave her a little sip. She's been hooked ever since! She asks for it every time we go now and prefers to have her cookie along with it. (I only give her a TEENY bit mixed with a LOT of half and half.)

Will bought some ground coffee for the house the other day and Amelia put in for a mug tonight. She helped put the water in and watched it brew. When it was ready I fixed her a cup and even put whip cream on the top, Starbucks style. (Once again with just a tiny bit of coffee to milk ratio.)

Afternoon Treat

We were out by the pool when the girls heard the ice cream truck coming down our street. They had already had their lunch, and today was hot, so I told them they could get something. Abigail picked a Dora shaped ice cream (??) on a stick and Amelia picked a rainbow rocket popsicle.

The Winning Bidder

She spotted them as soon as she got there. Daddy's wallet didn't stand a chance.

It was our second annual Special Olympics "option". (That's auction.) Amelia was not going to be denied. Some old lady pushed her to $75, but Amelia won in the end.

Uncle Lawrence decided he really wanted this recliner. None of us really know why, but he was quite tickled with his purchase. We all had a blast. We donated some money and found some treasures. At least for this evening, all was right in the world

Beauty And The Beast

We stopped into Destin Commons for a quick errand yesterday and on our way to our car there was a lady handing out free samples of Tropical Smoothie. The girls both picked out blueberry. I got them buckled in their seats and then handed them their cups. We live very close to the Commons and so it wasn't until we were on our street that I turned around to see Amelia. She was thoroughly enjoying her smoothie!

It wasn't so much the mess ALL over her face that made me laugh though. The second I saw her face all I could see was a character from an old tv show we sometimes watched called Beauty and the Beast. I hate to say Amelia looked just like the beast to me.

I couldn't stop laughing and though I had the camera with me, I couldn't hold it still to get a good picture. :)

*Even though Amelia looked like the Beast right then, she's always my Beauty.

Smitten With Freckles

I'm a sucker for freckles. I LOVE them! It's no surprise that the man I love is COVERED in them. :) Lucky for me his genes are strong. This last week of being in the sun has really helped to bring out the freckles on Abigail, especially her nose. Amelia has them to, across her cheeks and also her nose. She just won't hold still long enough to get a picture.

Easter Egg Hunt

Easter Morning

Abigail woke up at 6:45 this morning! I brought her into my room to try to get her to go back to sleep for a little while longer, but she was too excited about getter her Easter bucket. Both girls went to bed at 9:30 the night before, after having woken up at 7:30 that morning for ballet. (They normally sleep from 8 to 8). Once Amelia woke up around 7:30 I let the girls have their buckets*.

We decided to just hang around our house and let the kids chill. All the lack of sleep and extra sugar eventually caught up with Abigail. She was very grumpy for awhile.

We left the house around 1:00 to go to Pappa's house for an Easter egg hunt, the girls and their dolls in matching dresses from Grandma.

*The girls have used the same buckets (as opposed to baskets) since they were babies.

Dying Easter Eggs

We carried on the tradition of making Easter eggs the night before Easter at Pappa's house. The girls dyed a bunch of eggs in all sorts of colors and patterns. Abigail made little chick feet on the bottom of one of hers. Amelia requested I draw a hamster on one for her. It looked NOTHING like a hamster, but luckily she didn't care. :)
