Amelia's first response to seeing a picture of her new cousin Molly was one of shock. She couldn't believe she had "REAL FAIRY WINGS"!!! It was about three in the morning and Amelia had just woken up with a belly ache. I brought her into my room and she noticed my phone blinking on the nightstand. I opened it and there was a picture text from Megan. She was at the hospital with Dawnie. I showed it to Amelia (of course it was much smaller on my cell phone) and she thought Derf's hospital ID bracelet was Molly's wings. She was also so excited to tell Abigail about the pink hat she was wearing.

A Little Out Of The Ordinary
And wanting something new
I racked my brain and came up with an idea
I knew just what we'd do
We'd make our dinner early
And stick it in the fridge
When Dad gets home we'll take it out
And head to the waters edge
We'll make some fried chicken
A salad and dressing too
We'll make Hunter's brownies for dessert
That's just what we'll do
We'll bring Guinness with us
And let him play frisbee
The girls will ask Dad to help
hang from their favorite tree
We'll let the kids run around
On the playground until it's dark
I hope we all have fun
At our picnic in the park

Determination
"We looked outside today and it was rainy. I catched a lizard and he got on a leaf. I love you lizard." -Amelia
It wasn't exactly rainy out, just some condensation on the window from it being cold inside and hot outside. :) Amelia came out to water the plants with me and while we were watering the Gerber daisy, we spotted a baby lizard. Without even the slightest hesitation before Amelia began trying to catch it.

"Good I Thinking"
The girls came up with the idea to build a tent in Abigail's room with a little help from Daddy. They decorated the tent while Dad did the setting up. They used ALL of their bracelets and hair clips to make the tent look nice. We even got out some lights to string up. Surrounded by sheets, blankets, pillows and bling the girls went to sleep. This is all an obvious example of "Good I Thinking".

Here's the Story of the Hurricane
Even a couple hundred miles east
Our beaches were changed
The girls are almost old enough to understand
But they definitely know
Something was different this day
More power
You could feel it, see it, hear it
This is not usual

Spontaneous Vacation

On Saturday Afternoon
After running an errand
We decided to stay a night
At the Emerald Grande
We took in the sights
And did some relaxin'
Our clothes on our backs
Were all we had packed in
Our two little brave ones
Dove in, No surprise
Then after our brunch
They made some tie-dyes
So maybe we are crazy
On spontaneous vacation
But try it and see
What your mental state's in

Bedtime With Adam

Will's friend Adam is in town for the weekend and he's spending the night at our house. The girls immediately warmed up to him. Abigail told me that he was her "new friend." The girls asked him to read them their bedtime story and he accepted. They sweet talked their way into getting a second book and picked one of our favorites, FOX IN SOX. That book always makes us laugh with all its silly tongue twisters. The girls laughed when he messed up and cheered for him when he got it right. What a guy! Hopefully he won't mind sleeping in a twin bed in a very pink room.

Eat Your Veggies
Not that the girls have a problem eating their vegetables, but I think even the pickiest kid would eat these cute things. We found this adorable (and very cheap) cake mold pan at Williams Sonoma yesterday. Making the cake was the first thing on our list of things to do today. The girls pitched in with the prepping and the mixing and even crunched up the cookies for the "dirt". They watched me decorate the cakes while they snacked on candy and frosting. And Voila!! These cakes were so much fun to do. They turned out far better than I'd imagined and tasted pretty good too.
