Lost Tooth

Abigail's tooth has been wiggly for quite a while now. Over the last few days it has gotten very very wiggly, where she can push it all the way forward with just her tongue. We talked about whether or not to just wait for it fall out all on it's own or if we should pull it. We had pretty much decided to just let if fall out. But today the tooth was so wiggly it was becoming just a wee bit bothersome for Abigail. I told her I'd get a cloth and just give it a little tug, just to see what would happen. When I did, it just slipped right out of her mouth! She didn't even know I had pulled it out!

She was excited about what the Tooth Fairy might bring her tonight, but what she was really excited about was that when she goes back to school she gets her name on a special lost tooth list that her teacher has.

Perpetuating The Myth

Abigail uses "ben good this year" with poetic license and her own self-interested prejudice. And nothing quite like wishing a Merry Christmas to the big man himself.

She really wanted a big, blue bunny for Christmas and she really did deserve it, but Santa had no luck finding it anywhere. We explained that he had looked everywhere to no avail. She knew Santa was real because a friend of hers received a phone call from him before Christmas.Apparently this Santa was quite technologically savvy.

He could "ask the Internet to make it," she said. "Even that hadn't worked," we replied.
We asked if a different bunny would be okay. She gently broke the news to us that she only wanted a big, blue bunny, but that she would appreciate whatever Santa (as she glanced at me) and Mrs. Claus (as she glanced at Gina) could find. And she meant it. She might have this Santa thing figured out a whole lot better than the rest of us.

We did find a small bunny with "some" blue on it. She explained to us that it could be one of big, blue bunny's kids. You know, when Santa finally finds him.

Amelia has been in the giving spirit the last few weeks. She leaves candy under our pillows each night so we can get surprised in the morning. She is quite the sly little elf. She told Santa she wanted a robot dog for Christmas. That was a little easier for Santa to find!

Christmas was a blast. They haven't stopped playing with their toys. They are so sweet and appreciative of everything they have gotten. Maybe a little too much sugar in the last 48 hours, but all in all, it was a wonderful Christmas.

Roll Out The Red Carpet

Abigail at her school's Thanksgiving feast.

I knew the newspaper took this picture, but by the time I remembered to check the paper, it wasn't around. So just last week I went into the Destin Log's office to see if I could get an old copy. The lady was more than happy to help find me one and I'm glad she did. The picture is adorable, as is her "shout out" to the designer of her outfit (Aunt Tammy).

Still Sick

Both girls are still sick. Amelia seems to have the worst of it. :( We're back home now, relaxing and trying to get well. Hopefully they'll feel better for Christmas!

A Few Things We've Been Doing The Last Two Weeks

Thursday was, as Abigail would say, a "reefree early day" (early release day from school). The girls are out of school until Jan 4th '10! The girls and I decided to drive to Orlando to see friends Thursday afternoon. The drive wasn't bad until Amelia got sick an hour from Orlando and threw up in the car. So sad/disgusting. I cleaned her up, changed her and drove on. Both girls fell asleep shorty after that. Amelia got sick again in the middle of the night and the next day Abigail got the bug too. So much for having fun these first few days of vacation. We'll drive home tomorrow (Monday) and spend the rest of the vacation at home, hopefully feeling much better and relaxing with friends and family.

Amelia's Christmas class play. Amelia was a very beautiful Christmas tree. She also played a bell in the Jingle Bells song. I videoed the whole thing, but it's way too long to upload here.

Abigail's Winter class party that I was in charge of! Because the school hired a train for all the kindergarten classes, I decided to do a Polar Express theme party. The kids even got to wear jammies to school that day! We read the Polar Express book, made some cute crafts and ate copious amounts of sugar. For my first school party ever, it went pretty well. I'm not very crafty and I didn't come up with the idea on my own, but my favorite thing was bagels with a cream cheese igloo and olive penguins. The cuteness nearly killed me. I loved it so much that I made it again for Amelia's party the next day. :)

We convinced the train driver to give the pre-k's a ride on the train too.

Guinness after surgery. He had a growth on his eye that had to be removed. After we brought hime home the girls wanted to make him a special treat, so they both set out to make a list of all the ingredients the needed. Amelia's list is first. She sounded out everything all on her own, as did Abigail.

The new school playground (that Will was a HUGE part of) being assembled with a crew of volunteers and the ribbon cutting.

Boston

Just now putting up more pictures from our trip home to Maine. I'm not even going to backdate this post. This is just how far behind I am with blogging....

We spent the last two days of our trip in Boston. The first night there we rode the T into the city. We went to Faneuil Hall, ate dinner at Quincy Market and let the girls "ice skate" on Frog Pond.

The next day we only had a few hours before our flight back home. We decided The Children's Museum was a good choice. It was a school day, so at least they were learning a lilttle. ;)

New Gloucester Christmas Tree Lighting

This is the third year in a row that we've been home for the tree lighting in the Upper Village in New Gloucester (my home town). Aunt Robin is in charge of the songs. Abigail was very brave and went up with a group of kids and sang some Christmas carols. Amelia was a little too shy to go up. Maybe next year...
