Christmas Cookies

The girls got plenty of practice making cookies in Maine, so when it came time to make our own cookies they were ready to go. Abigail did an awesome job rolling out all the snowball cookies into perfect little balls and measuring the ingredients. Amelia had fun rolling out the dough for her "favorite lemon cookies" and also testing the batter for the chocolate Christmas trees.

We Wish Ewe A Merry Christmas

After Abigail's ballet on Saturday, we went to breakfast right by the mall. In the mall parking lot there was a big sheep and donkey pen set up (they do this every year at Christmas time for a live nativity show). When we were done eating we walked over to look at the animals. We happened to know the guy who owns them, so he let the girls in the pen. The animals were all so sweet and friendly. We had so much fun petting and feeding them. Now we just have to figure out a way to keep them all in our backyard. :)

Abigail's Christmas Card

While I was working on my Christmas cards today, Abigail sat at the table with me and made her own. I know I may be biased, but I can't help but be impressed with her art. It's a picture of a reindeer by a Christmas tree and then Santa's sleigh in the sky.

Abigail let Amelia decorate the outside of the card. She made a Christmas tree and some presents. Though her style is very different from Abigail's, I love hers just as much.

The Store

Before I went to work this morning, the girls decided to open a store and serve "customers". After a quick microeconomics lesson, we were up and running. They greeted the customer, took orders, counted money, and wished each other a nice day. When it was my turn to peruse the inventory, Abigail and Amelia told me that everything was free. Needless to say I bought one of each item.

Later t0night, they explained to me that it was actually no payments until June of 2009, with an APR of 16%, not actually free. They had learned their lessons well.

'Tis The Season

A little too busy
to do any writing
it's that time of the year
the kids are exciting*

Between shopping and...shopping
and shopping some more
we've managed to sqeeze in
just a little bit more

We went to the longest
parade of our lives
ate snowflakes for breakfast
and got Santa's surprise

Went on a Build-a-Bear outing
and the Bowling rink* with a friend
got all dressed up
for photo shoots that don't end

We still have cookies to make
and cards to send out
if it all will get done
I'm starting to doubt

*the girls both say exciting instead of excited
*this is what they call the bowling alley

Making Christmas Cookies

" We put on little glubbie things. We were doing cherries. The chocolate was a little melty. Tammy said that. " -Amelia

"Robin let me crack the eggs. We had our salt water taffy and we twisted them together. Robin said our dough was like salt water taffy. We rolled our cookies into balls and then we twisted them together." -Abigail

Bunny Hop Days

"Bunny and Ginger were having a bunny party. There were little mini cakes with jelly inside with sprinkles. There were two different kinds. Robin had blueberry tea. Bunny had a special outfit as you can see in the picture. And Ginger too. Bunny Hop Days was a great day. It was nice of Robin to do and I loved it." - Abigail
