This Little Piggy Is Loaded

I accidentally put a sweet little token that Robin had given to Abigail in her piggy bank, mistaking it for a coin. I realized it as soon as I did it, but Abigail's piggy bank is VERY full. The only way we were going to get the token out was to empty the whole bank. So we emptied it, sorted the change into piles, and put all the change in money rolls. The girls had fun helping. Abigail got bored after a while but Amelia sat with me and helped roll the coins until we were done. By the time we were finished we had $256 in change, and Abigail got her token back!

Proof That Movies Corrupt Children

I noticed Amelia doing a little move she does when she has to go potty. So I took her to the bathroom and had her go. I asked her why she wouldn't just tell me she had to go potty. She said she didn't have to go, she was just doing the Funky Town dance.

While driving to the park tonight I heard Amelia in the back seat ask Abigail if she wanted a drink of water and then cracked up laughing. I turned around to see this. :)

Beat The Heat

We are back in Florida and it's definitely hotter here than Maine. So to cool off the girls spent the afternoon in the turtle pool while I mowed the lawn and tonight we went with Colton to a water playground.

No Bean Suppah

We were supposed to leave to go back to Florida today (always a sad day). We packed up and headed to the airport. Tammy was kind enough to drive us. We said our goodbyes and went into the airport only to find out that our flight was delayed out of Portland and cancelled out of Atlanta. We had the choice of flying to Atlanta to stay the night there or staying in Maine and leave early the next morning. We chose to stay in Maine. We called Tammy and she came back to get us. Luckily she hadn't gone very far. She asked us if there was anything we wanted to do that we didn't get a chance to do while we were home. Lobster came to mind. So we ordered 22 lobsters and set up tables outside Tammy's. We picked up some corn and Tammy put it on the grill. We invited everyone up to her house. The night was perfect. I'm glad we got to stay for another day.

Swinging

Abigail and Amelia both LOVE to swing. They had all their cousins, aunts, and even grampa pushing them on all the various swings. Abigail has been practicing swinging on her own for a while but she finally got the hang of it this week.

Cold Summer Day

down by the shore
where the sea weed grows
the water is like ice
and the cold wind blows

the fog and the breeze
won't stop us from playing
and running around
while the grown-ups are laying

the sun wasn't out
but the mermaid still came
on that Cold Summer Day
at the beach in Maine

July 4th

July 4th was a busy day. It started with the 4th annual family Whatever Floats Your Boat race down the Royal River in my home town. Everyone builds their own boat. Will and I ended up floating (more like swimming along side) down the river in a garbage can attached to an inner tube. Abigail and Amelia stayed with Kim to judge the race. After the race everyone went to Robin's house for a delicious barbecue. There were lots of old time festivities: a pie contest, a cupcake contest for the kids, three-legged races, sack races and tug of war. We ended the night with fireworks and a trip to the Ice Cream Dugout.

Partied Out

The 4th of July was a long day for Amelia. Abigail took a nap but Amelia stayed up the whole day. Towards the end she was very very tired. She finally fell asleep after the fireworks on the drive to the Ice Cream Dugout.

Saving on Gas

I had to bring a suitcase full of eBay things over to Tammy's house. She lives only a few minutes away from Robin's (where we were staying). It was a nice day so instead of driving I decided to walk. Kim, Casey and Amelia tagged along. Because we thought it was funny that we were going to be walking down Rt.100 with a rolling suitcase we decided Kim should bring along a guitar, Hobo style. We didn't get very far before getting horns beeping and some odd looks. A photographer happened to be driving along and got out of his car to take this picture.

Home In Maine

One of the first things Abigail wanted to do when we were in Maine was go to down to Nanny's house and pick things out of the garden. It's still early in the growing season but there were plenty of sugar snap peas to pick. She also picked a few strawberries and some rhubarb.
